About the JAWS Rip-Off Library and its creator

The 1975 Blockbuster, JAWS, spawned not only many copycat films, known better as “rip-offs” but JAWS was also responsible for influencing movie posters and artwork, an influence still seen in movies today. Let this blog serve as an archive and a celebration of the many cinematic treasures, flops and classics that, if it were not for our beloved JAWS, would never have been created.

These films have brought me joy over the years. As a lover of history, I find myself constantly wanting to learn where directors get their ideas, what films influence filmmakers, and how popular films of any time period trigger remakes, reinterpretations, and just plain abysmal rip-offs. My hope is that by visiting this blog you will laugh, cry, and see another often overlooked side of the influence JAWS has had on popular culture and film.

  5. Hi,
I’d really like a copy of Bacalhau (Codfish) (1975). I’ve gathered a decent collection of Jaws rip offs/sharksploitation/aquatic horror movies, so if you’re looking for anything I’d be willing to trade.
